Terminal compatibility

Bring your own terminal. We configure it.

Two things to check, in this order.

A terminal with a keypad is not necessarily able to take a typed card number. The keypad is usually for amounts and PINs. Only three things prove it: the menu, the app, or your last receipt.

1 · Find the model

  1. Turn it over. The label on the back usually prints the model on the first line.
  2. Watch the screen while it boots — most show the model for two seconds.
  3. Log in to your gateway and open Terminals or Devices.
  4. Ask whoever installed it for the model and firmware version.

2 · Check for manual entry

  1. Open the menu. Look for Manual, Manual Entry or Keyed Transaction.
  2. Not there? On Android terminals the switch lives inside the payment app, not the terminal menu.
  3. Still not there? Read your last receipt. If it prints MANUAL, it's already enabled.

3 · Or skip the hardware

  1. Manual entry does not require a terminal.
  2. A virtual terminal — one page in your gateway — lets you type a card number from any browser.
  3. Same processing, same settlement, no device to buy.
